I spent 35 years trying every diet known to humanity (yes, even the Cabbage Soup Diet β we don't talk about those dark times). I blamed my "slow metabolism," counted every calorie, and thought mindful eating was just "fluffy nonsense."
The Breaking Point
After a year of restrictive eating prescribed by a well-meaning doctor, I hit rock bottom at my neighborhood block party. I devoured nearly an entire pizza and felt so sick and defeated that I finally surrendered.
That pizza was my wake-up call.
I realized I wasn't brokenβ¦.diet culture was β I was just using approaches that fought against my natural wiring. Traditional diet culture doesn't account for how sensitive, empathetic people process stress, emotions, and food experiences differently.
